What is on the meal train sign-up sheet?
- About the family: the family's name, the coordinator and their phone number, the drop-off address and time, and how many adults and children to feed.
- Allergies and dietary needs, and likes, dislikes and drop-off instructions (knock, leave it in the cooler, don't stay).
- A meal calendar covering three weeks, with a line for who is bringing a meal each day and what they are bringing.
- Good to know: use disposable containers or label the dish, write reheating instructions on the lid, drop off and go unless invited in, and a delivery gift card for that night counts as a meal.
How do you run a church meal train?
- Ask the family first what would help, which days, and what they can't eat.
- Name one coordinator who shares the sheet and answers questions.
- Fill the calendar. Every other day is often enough; families get more food than they expect.
- Share the sheet with the people who know the family, and check the day before that each meal is still coming.
Is there a simpler way than a paper sheet?
A shared link people can sign up on without an account is easier for neighbours and relatives. Churchory Care runs meal trains with slots per date, dietary and drop-off notes in front of the person cooking, gift cards counted toward the same meal, and a public share link. Questions about the meal train sign-up sheet
How long should a church meal train last?
Two to three weeks covers most new babies and recoveries; extend it for long illnesses. The template has a three-week calendar you can copy.
Can people give a gift card instead of cooking?
Yes. A delivery gift card for that night counts as a meal; note it on the calendar so the day is covered.
Is the meal train template free?
Yes, as a printable page and as a spreadsheet, with no sign-up.
